Select the suitable train, fill earliest date of travel, click class of travel and check for availability of accommodation. You get the availability position for the next one week. Thus you may decide the train and date for your travel. However you have to get the journey tickets booked for the same.

Booking your Rail Reservation Ticket on Net thru IRCTC


It is now possible to book your railway ticket on net. Following conditions has to be met.

1. You must register with IRCTC on site one time. For registration click

2. You have to pay a fee per ticket (not per passenger) booked. It is Rs. 40/- for AC class and Rs. 25/- for Second class. Fees have been reduced further in the current budget. Number of passengers can be unto six per ticket.

3. You should be able to make payments from your bank (UTI, HDFC, SBI etc.) account thru internet.

4. One of the passengers must have some photo identity card like pan, voter card, ID card etc. Its number and name of issuing authority is required at the time of booking the ticket, also it has to be carried while traveling on this ticket.

5. While booking you have to enter the choice for the seat/ berth even if you do not have any choice. In the space for passenger who will carry the identity, fill the sr. no. of his/her as entered for booking the ticket.

6. You can preferably print your e-ticket or note down its number.

7. For booking your ticket, you have to log on first then book the ticket. For logging on and booking now, click BookNow

Cancellation of your e ticket

In case there is a change in programme, the e-ticket can be cancelled at the net. Cancellation of e- tickets can be done till charts are prepared. Money, after due deduction for cancellation shall be credited to the account from where it was paid. 

Go to http://www.irctc.co.in/ 

Login with user name and password.

Go to cancel/print e ticket link.

Enter pass word.

Select the ticket to be canceled and submit.


Checking your Current reservation status 

In case you have a waitlisted ticket, you may check the current status of your reservation on
http://www.indianrail.gov.in/pnr_stat.html

You will need the PNR number of your ticket for checking it.
